Treasurer’s Report: (see reports) Expenses/Income Reports: Budgeted offerings needed to meet budget: $2650 Last Month Average offerings: $3,049 2012 Annual Average offerings to Date: $2,625 Current Account Balances: Checking: $13,464 Approximate Facilities: $15,500 Approximate Youth: $7,300 Approximate Other: $1,000 Total Savings: $21,787 Current balances include: Youth fundraising funds. (Still need to pay for airline tickets for youth) Still need to pay for sign repair. Attendance been good which has reflected well in offerings. Thrivent Projects Update: Kelly will check on available funds. Kroger: (no check this month) Treasurer Discussion/New Business: | FINANCIAL RELATED DECISIONS TO REPORT TO BOOKKEEPER: · Kroger funds for April and May will go to the Youth Account. · Any Easter brunch donations will go toward the youth. · Insurance company sent check for damages: $2,382.00. Pastor’s Report: Lent series. · Ash Wednesday starts off the 6 part series of the catechism: THE 10 COMMANDMENTS, THE APOSTLES CREED, THE LORD’S PRAYER, THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM, THE OFFICE OF THE KEYS, THE HOLY SUPPER (2 more until Easter week to go) Easter Week: · Maundy Thursday, Good Friday – 7:00 p.m. services. New Members: · Currently teaching Adult Class for the Johnsons. May 6th will be new member Sunday. · Finishing the Walther Sunday School topic. · Will be starting an “Apologetics” class from Ken Ham · “Nature of the church” Scientology, and Mormons will be covered. · The Men’s Group will have their first meeting on Tuesday at the Beer Trappe. The next meeting will be at Bellacinos April 17th. · Will be taking a vacation in late April. | Pastor’s Report: · Send out request for anyone interested in attending the district convention in Ft Wayne, IN June 28 and 29. · May 6th will be New Member Sunday and Staff appreciation · Gretchen will advertise new topic for SS. |

Stewardship Report · Several church activities have been happening and that makes for good stewardship. Stewardship Plan Update: · There is a Dave Ramsey 10 week course with an online component. Staff will discuss at the next staff meeting. | Stewardship Report: · Discuss Dave Ramsey course. |
Christian Education Report: Bible Reading Program Update: · Starting week _10_in emails. Posted in Facebook, website. HALF WAY POINT! Sunday School: · Consistently there have been 8 children in the younger Sunday School class. There is even a new family attending. · In the summer the curriculum may be a movie and crafts. · Hope to to Baptism and birthday bags. · Bags to kids on Easter. · Felicia working on new stories for next year · High school kids possible study on: “Demoloshing Strongholds” from answers in Genesis. Adult Sunday School: There has been regularly about 10-15 people in attendance. GSLC Men’s group: Meeting time. Beer Trappe Devotions from: Wild at heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man’s Soul by John Eldredge . VBS: Date: A date after the expansion and right before school. August | Christian Education Report: · Gretchen will continue to post the Bible reading challenge by email as well as posting on Facebook, website and on the Shepherd’s Blog. · Survey report. Gretchen will tally the surveys that have been filled out. · Kelly, Felicia and Gretchen will put together some Easter bags for the kids who attend Sunday School. · Next Men’s Social meeting will be at Bellacino’s on April 17th. · Felicia and Tara will come up with a date in August for a one day VBS. |
Lutheran School Report: · The LSL met and talked about the GSLC meeting. · There was a proposal from the LSL to form the Adhoc committee with existing school board members and the GSLC staff and invite any additional people to join. · The LSL discussed needing one person to head the committee. Arny Stromberg was suggested and asked. · He agreed to do it. · The GSLC Staff and the LSL representatives made a motion to elect Arny as Chair of the Adhoc Expansion Committee. The motion was seconded and approved. · The meetings for the Adhoc Expansion Committee will be: 6:00 on Tuesdays – (the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month) · Nancy stated that the Lsl meetings our open to anyone and they meet at 6:30 on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. · The LSL’s Spring event is at barrel house. LSL will invite Pastor Bettermann from St John’s to lead Chapel Time with the children. | · Gretchen will send out an invitation to join the AdHoc Expansion Committee. · Arny agreed to be the chair of the Adhoc Expansion Committee. He will conduct the first meeting on Tuesday, April 10th at 6:00 at GSLC. · Gretchen will advertise the LSL Spring Event at the Barrel House. · Gretchen will get with Kim to offer any help with advertising the new kindergarten curriculum and the new 2’s room. · Nancy and Pastor will invite Pastor Bettermann to participate in Chapel Time. Youth Group: Activities: Costa Rica - July 8-18 Costa Rica · March 24th Irish Dance Dinner · Lsl move furniture for dance · Car wash tickets will be passed out this weekend. · Mulch Louisville fundraising company 3 mulch types Preorder deliver early april schedule spreading 1200 bags of mulch for full truck Church to use mulch · Trustees can come up with amount that we need · Offer to LSL get to Kim by Friday · Embroidered Shirts buy/or bring your own (proceeds to youth) Go toward youth · Youth currently have $11,000 need $14,500 · Can Thrivent match Rupp. Kelly will look into. · Plane tickets 13 going - deposit needed by end of month · Kroger money has been voted to go to youth for April and May · Easter brunch donations go toward youth. Youth will help clean up. There will be plants for the table decorations that will be given away · Fill eggs basket for eggs and candy (Just need candy) · Rupp brought in $5000 this year. · There should have been a Rupp check given on 3/18 and one more to come. | Youth Group: · Rachel will organize the furniture moving for the dance. · Rachel will be taking Mulch orders through the end of March. Gretchen will print mulch flyers and give to Kim Hurley to distribute to LSL. · John Carlson will estimate how much we need for mulch and let Rachel know. · Gretchen will come up with the t-shirt order form. · Kelly will check with Thrivent chapter to see if there are any available funds. · Gretchen will put out notice for Easter candy. |
Evangelism/Altar Guild: · EASTER: It was agreed that some Easter bags be made for the kids of GSLC. Easter egg hunt will be coordinated by the GSLC youth. · Kelly will contact Ashland florist for palms for Palm Sunday. · Send craig box · Arch books make labels · Sponsor a child fundraising will continue through Lent. · Easter bags · Tthe LWML District meeting convention in June is in Evansville. Gretchen will ask Kelly for agenda. Ruth Kloha is attending. · New idea clear acrylic box with lock. · Staff asked to look into ways we could go and help with Tornado cleanup. Join a work crew; Lutheran world relief, Orphan grain train · Maybe next year, Rupp could go toward Stephen’s ministry. · Will get Craig Moline’s box to Jamie to send to Craig who is currently in Afghanistan. Letters pens and pencils and personal care items. · New idea: for silent auction gift baskets May 6th. Mother’s Day and Father’s Day themed. Felicia will head that project. Potato Bar for lunch. Trustee Projects/Report: · Sign A Rama repaired sign for $928.70. It has been moved to middle shed. · Glenn McCarty’s insurance company sent check for damages: $2,382.00. Leaves $1453.30 for masonry work for base. · Get a banner. Completed · Clean up day on March 17 Completed · Lsl expansion Jonathan Isaacs working on timeline. · Trustees reported that there is just enough flooring for the expansion. · Trees will need to be trimmed. Both the front tree by the sign and the tree next to the playground where the expansion is going. · A dumpster has been ordered for the demolition of the shed. It will arrive April 13th. · Prayer garden bench installation. Find out a date. · New Refrigerator DONE Hook up water during expansion. | Trustee Projects/Report: · The masonry work has been ordered to fix the base of the sign. · Gretchen will put on the church calendar times for weeding the prayer garden. · John will investigate the options for the tree trimming. · John and Arny will lead the demolition of the church shed. Anyone else can join in the fun as well. · Member of staff to ask the Palmer family about the installation of the prayer benches. |
Congregational Secretary Report: · Survey results for next meeting. Motion for March 23 meeting: The GSLC congregation agrees to spend up to $6,000 toward the cost of the expansion to be constructed at the larger size of 16 feet. · Thermometer will be posted to track fundraising efforts. | Congregational Secretary Report: · Gretchen will tally the survey results so far. · Felicia and Gretchen will be in charge of reporting funds raised for the building fund which will include the expansion project. |
NEW BUSINESS: · It was suggested that the Adhoc committee be made up of the LSL board and the GSLC staff. Others are welcome to join. · Prayer garden readiness for Easter. · A Staff Time Off form was discussed. Elders oversee staff. · Organist Sub options. | NEW BUSINESS: · Gretchen will advertise Adhoc Expansion committee meeting dates/times. · The Trustees will insure that the Prayer Garden is complete for Easter. · Gretchen will make a Staff Time Off Form and give to the Elders for distribution to staff. · Kelly had a possible organist sub. She will contact person for availability. |
